Precognize and OSIsoft sign a partnership agreement

We are excited to announce that OSIsoft, a global leader in operational intelligence, and Precognize, the predictive maintenance software for the process industry, have signed a partnership agreement. Precognize will provide their own software application, which integrates and extends the PI System to provide additional functionality for customers. Initial collaborations at the field level have led to great enthusiasm of both parties.

OSIsoft is a manufacturer of application software for real-time data management, called the PI System. It provides an open infrastructure to connect sensor-based data, operations and people to enable real-time intelligence. Their main product, the PI System, enables businesses to capture sensor-based data across the enterprise to improve efficiency, sustainability, quality, and safety. It is one of the world’s most popular technologies for the Industrial IoT.

Precognize is a predictive maintenance software company for the process industry, including the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and metallurgy sectors. Among its customers and partners are BASF, the world’s largest chemical producer, and GE. Precognize detects failures days to weeks in advance and provides early, accurate, and reliable alerts 3-4 times a week. It helps prevent shutdowns, lowers downtime to a minimum, and saves on maintenance costs. Analyzing the existing data of the plant, Precognize applies advanced machine learning and builds a model of the structure and behavior of the plant, based on the knowledge of the plant’s experts.

The main motivation behind such a partnership is to to create an integrated solution that leverages the power of OSIsoft AF and PI Vison and the capabilities of Precognize. PI Asset Framework (PI AF) is a single repository for asset-centric models, hierarchies, objects, and equipment. It integrates, contextualizes, refines, references, and further analyzes data from multiple sources, including one or more PI Data Archives and non-PI sources, such as external relational databases. Together, these metadata and time series data provide a detailed description of equipment or assets.

Precognize’s solution is available for customers collecting their data in the historian. Many of their customers use OSIsoft’s PI System as their historian. Thus, the motivation behind the partnership is obvious. Together they can offer the customer a comprehensive predictive maintenance experience, with additional applications and capabilities for PI System customers.
