CONTROL VALVE FAILURE
EVENT REPORTED by SAM GUARD®
Detected a problem with a temperature control valve, where the valve was opening suddenly to 100%.
There was no change in the set point and process value of the valve. The event was alerted immediately in SAM GUARD following the abnormal behavior.
MAINTENANCE TEAM FINDINGS
The valve issue was very prominent for the production engineers to act and was forwarded to the maintenance department.
It was found on the on-site inspection that the valve had a valve plug corrosion disrupting optimal control and was fixed.

COST / DOWNTIME AVOIDED
Earlier alert helped with preventing the complete valve failure.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
“The control valve was regulating the temperature of cooling water in a heat exchanger, and a valve failure would have resulted in the failure of cooler operation.”
